Abstract
The paper is a part of a handbook-like catalogue of European hospital systems and forms of institutional caare of the needy. It deals with following questions : typology of sources; legal and social position and function of hospitals (foundation, patronage, legal questions, material means); target groups and excluded persons (inamtes); structures (buildings, personnel, daily life, ceremonies et.); and perecption from outside.
