Abstract

Ahrens et al reported a fatal case of a 19-year-old man who had a subarachnoid hemorrhage caused by rupture of the internal carotid artery, complicated by massive neurogenic pulmonary edema. He had been found comatose in the bathroom.

In spite of receiving intensive therapy, the patient died 36 hours after hospital admission.
