As part of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Portuguese Nobel laureate José Saramago, the Portuguese Center in Prague, in cooperation with the Department of Portuguese Studies of the Faculty of Arts of the UK, launched the "Saramago's Legacy" program, thanks to which author Afonso Reis Cabral, among others, visited the Czech Republic. At the end of 2018, the young author published his second novel Pão de Açúcar, which met with positive reviews from critics. It was for this that he received the José Saramago award, which brings him to Prague.
In the second part of the program, there was a discussion with the translator Marie Havlíková and a lecture by Karolina Válová devoted mainly to the personality of José Saramago and possible parallels in the work of the invited author.
