Abstract
An enlarged version of a lecture from an international conference devoted to the history of science and 'biographics' mediates with the extent and function of the databasis 'Science community in Czech lands in 1882-2000', originated from the activities of the Research Center of the History of science. A part of the essay are examples of computer elaboration of biographical material, giving a detailed survey of the preparation and origin of the databasis.
