Abstract
The necrologue describes the activities of the first director of the Institute of History of the Charles University in Prague Prof. František Kavka.
It is aimed to the history of education, university history and first of all to his main interest : history of the Prague University and to his eminent participation on it´s complete history. Even his organisatory contribution, popularization of scientific research and advertising of Czech historiography on an international field is appreciated.
