Abstract
The essay describes historical efforts to build and university campus in Prague since the middle ages till to the 20th century. A special attention is directed to the project of architect Havlíček from 1939-1945, who planned an university campus in the locality of Albertov (New Town of Prague, Nové Město pražské).
