The book deals with the activities of the Capuchin order in Bohemia and Moravia from 1599 to 1783. The year of 1599 is the date of the first Capuchins' arrival in the Czech lands, specifically in Prague under the leadership of Lawrence of Brindisi.
In the other watershed year (1783) the Bohemian-Moravian Capuchin province became divided into two parts, giving rise to an independent Bohemian and an independent Moravian province. The book is focused on the mutual interactions of the order with the surrounding world (collectioning of alms, preaching, confessional and missionary activities, pilgramages, the third order etc.).
