Beer jars are one of the most unique ceramic groups of the Old Kingdom from the respect of their diverse spatial distribution, as they can be frequently uncovered in almost all available types of contexts. They were used as tomb equipment, during sealing rituals, as part of shaft deposits, during the subsequent ritual activity, and often, their largest occurrence comes from refuse layers and deposits as well as secondary reuse in later constructions.

In this paper, the author would like to define different types of contexts, briefly discuss their contents and diverse cultic meanings.
