Mobility of Jewish Captives between Moravia and the Ottoman Empire in the Second Half of the Seventeenth Century

Abstrakt
The article deals with the historical experience of the Jews who fell either in Habsburg or Ottoman captivity during the Ottoman-Habsburg wars of the second half of the seventeenth century. It uses Jewish ego-documents, Jewish rabbinical and communal sources as well as non-Jewish archival material to portray the possible strategies and paths of Jewish individuals in the captivity and in its aftermath.
