The Media as a Gift: Relecture of the Pastoral Instruction Communio et Progressio

Abstract

This paper is an attempt to re--read the 1971 pastoral instruction on the media, Communio et progressio. It attempts to capture the transformation that the Church's relationship with the media has undergone from Communio et progressio to the present day, with particular reference to the encyclical Fratelli tutti, in which Pope Francis emphasises a culture of dialogue.
