The Czech constitutional theory focuses on the President of the Republic frequently and willingly, which is reflected in the considerable number of publications on this topic over the last 30 years. The reader might therefore ask whether anything new can be said about the issue in the Czech constitutional system.
We are convinced that it does, and that there are still unanswered chapters in this area, provided that one searches in waters that have not been explored enough. In this paper, which is an introduction to our broader work, we venture into such waters.
We focus on the role of the function of the president of the republic in relation to the formation and maintenance of the democratic myth in a constitutional democracy.
