Principles of Creating Language and Reading Tasks for Mathematics Word Problems – Two Subjects, One Problem

Abstract

Recently, Faculty of Education, Charles University carries out the research whose main objective is to innovate approach to teaching word problems in maths and by linking language, reading and maths strategies to increase success of pupils in solving word problems in maths while developing their language and reading competence. The contribution introduces specific principles of creating language and reading tasks for maths word problem and illustration of such integrated teaching in the lesson.
