Comparison of material and personnel conditions for education in Arab and Jewish schools in Israel and possible relationship on educational outcomes
Abstrakt
This paper focuses on describing the differences between different population groups in formal education as they are manifested in teaching and learning at different levels of education, as well as in national examinations (Mitzav) and international studies of student achievement. Compared to OECD countries, the main conclusion of the paper is that while the education system in Israel has mproved in all areas examined, the narrowing of the gap is still unsatisfactory.
The discussion of the educational system in Arab society is very relevant. Since the establishment of the state, this society has found itself in a special situation for education in a social and ecological sense.
Most Arab children studied and attended their separate schools (in Israel, Jewish and Arab schools are separate), usually located in separate localities and conducted in the Arabic language (Adler. Blass. 1998).
It should be noted that both the Arab and Jewish education systems are administered by the same Ministry of Education. Inequality in education has many negative effects on society as a whole and on individuals within it.
This ranges from disrupting an individual's earning potential and prospects for social mobility to undermining social cohesion and shaping discrimination, deprivation and social differences.
