Abstract
A review of a novel by a Czech writer, which attracted considerable public attention in 2022 and actually opened the topic of the persecution of nuns under the communist regime for the first time in fiction. However, it also focuses on the more general level of the relationship between the totalitarian authorities and the churches, especially the role of church secretaries, the issue of the secret ordination of priests, and the ordination of women.
