Abstrakt
The analysis of the situation of Czech Roma during the pandemic shows that, unlike in other countries, their situation was at first glance paradoxical: Romani people were not blamed for the spread of the pandemic and, in some respects, the situation opened up new job opportunities for them as a result of restrictions on labour migration. The contribution however brings to light yet a different perspective.
Despite the invocations of unprecedented emergency, pre-existing conditions become actualized and magnified during the pandemic and give rise to the realization that it is a crisis of a different scale that we should be focusing on - a veritable syndemic.
