The main aim of our study is to show the possibility of the application of ultrasound methods in veterinary therapeutic medicine, especially in canine physiotherapy. We monitored and compared the frequency of therapeutic use of ultrasound in rehabilitation as well as in microsurgical procedures in dogs in Slovak and Hungarian veterinary practices.
The results of our survey indicate that Slovak veterinarians use ultrasound routinely for diagnostic purposes, unfortunately for therapeutic purposes to a lesser extent than their Hungarian colleagues. Our work could contribute to changing this unfavourable aspect in Slovak veterinary medicine and lead to better promotion of ultrasound application in the rehabilitation and utilizing of ultrasound microsurgery in dogs therapy.
