Critical introduction to "The Symphony of Consciousness" by Andrej Platonov. Firstly, the history of Spenglerian thought in the Soviet Union is traced; then, the secondary sources on which Platonov draws for his article on Spengler's "The Decline of the West" are identified.
Subsequently, Platonov's reformulation of the German philosopher's key concepts is discussed. Lastly, the article focuses on finding echoes of Spenglerian thought within Platonov's literary production.
