The essay discusses the role of literature with/in Nigeria's historical pluriverse in relation to the monograph "Nigerian Literary Imagination and the Nationhood Project" (2022) by Toyin Falola, which explores the importance of identity and the idea of home in Nigerian fiction, shows how fictionalized representations of Nigeria give insights into the real history and society of the country, and surveys a range of Nigerian authors and works relating to nationhood, colonialism and postcolonialism.
