The report describes the progress of the project Center for Socio-Economic Research on Environmental Policy Impact Assessment for the period 7/2021 - 12/2021.
The aim of the project is to create an interdisciplinary research center (hereinafter the "Center"), which will ensure a long-term professional capacity for socio-economic research in the field of the environment. The Center has been founded and its objectives are gradually fulfilled.
The contextual political framework of the project is the European Green Deal (EGD), which the European Commission (EC) introduced at the end of 2019, and in particular the "Fit-for-55" package, introduced in 2021, which is based on the EU's 2030 Climate Target Plan and fulfils the EGD and binding targets of the European Climate Law. The research of the SEEPIA project during its first half year focused on the literature review and analysis of the individual initiatives of the European Green Deal and their relationship to the research conducted in other work packages of the project (WP). This activity was carried out mainly in WP1 and WP4.
The Center develops methods in three main areas: socio-economic assessment of environmental policy impacts (addressed in WP2, WP3, WP5, WP6), development and application of foresight methods (addressed in WP7), and behavioural research and the inclusion of attitudes in the policy-making process (addressed in WP8 and WP9 and partially in WP3 and WP5) with the aim of providing the Ministry of the environment and other state administration bodies with expert support in the design of policies and strategies based on research on current and future impacts on the environment, economy and society. The WP6 and WP8, as planned, will start in 2022.
An integral part of the project's activities is to disseminate results to experts and the general public. A communication strategy is being developed for this purpose. This activity is mainly part of WP10.
