In this article I analyse parliamentary debates of the Finnish Parliament (Eduskunta) on European integration from 1990 to 2020. Finland joined the European Union (EU) in 1995, but Finland’s integration history dates back to the late 1950s and early 1960s.
In the turbulent years following the end of the Cold War and the collapse of the Soviet Union in the early 1990s, European integration rose higher on the Finnish political agenda.
