Referencing female characters in the Old English Heptateuch translation of Genesis

Abstract

The article concentrates on female references in the first 24 chapter of Old English translation of Genesis. It follows the female characters and their references and compare the data with the Latin version of the text which functioned as template for the translator.

By this, it identifies the translational strategies and notices that in some cases the female referents are downtowned.
