This biographical article presents the personality of Štěpán Hovorka, a participant in the anti-communist resistance. The article is based on primary archival research.
It describes Hovorka's life story, especially his military service in the Czechoslovak Army and his involvement in the activities of Štěpán Gavenda's intelligence group. Hovorka gathered intelligence information for Gavenda and often accompanied him inland after crossing the border.
After Gavenda's arrest, he went into hiding until he was shot by State Security officers in December 1949 near the bridge over the Výrovka River in Pečky.
