Abstract

The study examines the origins of the devotion to St. Elizabeth of Hungary (d. 1231) at noble women's courts of 13th and 14th century Central Europe.

This is included collecting the saint's relics as well as pilgrimages to her tomb. After tracing these phenomena, the study compares them to those of St.

Hedwig of Silesia and Agnes of Bohemia.
