Narrativity plays an important role in the functioning of modern museums, which is reflected both in their external presentation and popularization activities, and in the construction of the exhibitions themselves. A special area for investigating the functioning of narrativity in museums is the area of museum presentation of contemporary history. Although every grasp of history (and historical consciousness as such) contains a strong narrative aspect, it is precisely contemporary history that can be spoken of as a kind of narratological problem.
The article presents the author's proposal for a typology of narrative modes in the museum presentation of contemporary history. It discusses their specifics, advantages and risks.
