In this contribution, I will review the fundamental properties of altermagnetism and emphasize the experimental evidence supporting its existence. Specifically, I will discuss the experimental verification of the symmetry elements associated with the longitudinal and transverse anisotropic magnetoresistance observed in thin films of MnTe.
Additionally, we examine the specific factors contributing to the measured transverse and longitudinal signals, exploring their potential as indicators of the unconventional altermagnetic phase.
