Virgilian references in Pardoux Du Prat's French translation of Cento Probae

Abstract

The paper was devoted to the French translation of Cento Probae by Pardoux Du Prat from 1557 and specifically to its marginal references to Virgil's work and the Bible. The aim was to reflect on the functions of this elaborate system of references, which were the translator's distinctive creation.
