The article Teaching mediation as a communicative activity concerns itself with mediation as one of the four modes of communication defined by the CEFRL and the possibilities of incorporating mediation in foreign language teaching. The text sums up key findings of the author's research of mediation tasks carried out for the purposes of her Master's thesis.
It also briefly introduces the main theoretical foundations upon which the research was based, i.e., the illustrative descriptors for mediation published in the CEFRL's Companion Volume in 2018 and the results of Maria Stathopoulou's statistical analysis of mediation tasks. The article's main objective is to familiarise language teachers with mediation as a skill acquired by a foreign language learner and with pivotal principles of designing a mediation task.
