Abstract
This contribution presents the biography, bibliography and personal memories of the excellent Czech zoologist and university teacher RNDr. Františka Lelláková, CSc. (*1927), who worked at the Faculty of Education and Faculty of Science of Charles University in Prague and inspired several generations of students.
She published 12 original scientific works and several popular science and methodological articles. She contributed significantly to the knowledge of the morphology and biology of scale insects of the family Diaspididae, which were the main focus of her scientific work.
She also devoted herself to the ecology of soil nematodes (Nematoda) and the systematics and faunistics of mites of the family Bdellidae. She was co-author on the description of an insect species new for science, Dahlica hirta Bartošová et Dušková, 1958, originally classified as a member of Diptera, Mycetophilidae, and now placed in Lepidoptera, Psychidae, under the name Solenobia hirta (Bartošová et Dušková, 1958).
She was also significantly involved in the production of university textbooks and scripts focusing on invertebrate zoology and zoological methods. Dr.
Lelláková is warmly remembered by her former students and colleagues for her enthusiasm, excellent lectures, sharing her great practical experience and for her exceptionally helpful personal approach.
