Abstract

The first complete translation of the Bible into Old Czech emerged in the mid-14th century, undergoing several redactional revisions throughout the 14th and 15th centuries. Independent translations of Psalms, often by different translators, were typically integrated into these complete translations.

The third redaction of the Old Czech Bible translation, originating from the early 15th century, is distinctive for its high degree of similarity across various sources. This redaction adopted and revised the third translation of Psalms from the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries.

This contribution focuses on a comparative analysis of the Psalms in the third redaction and their comparison with the original Psalms of the third translation. The aim is to uncover the extent of similarities between the texts and to identify the main differences.

The results of this analysis will allow for a better understanding of the translational and redactional processes that influenced the form of Psalms in the Old Czech context.
