Abstract

in different languages, the term has a different range. In Czech we can identify several different meanings, which differ not only according to the context of use.

In relation to mathematics and philosophy, we can distinguish different groups: functional thinking as a synonym of relational thinking, where we can discover different subgroups depending on the extent to which the term is understood extra wide, broad, narrower, connected with (temporal) spatial relations and quantitative relations. In particular, functional thinking related only to the mathematical notion of function can be singled out.

In some sources to functions where both patterns and images are numerical, in other sources to functions where patterns are present (e.g. measures of GU, determination of number). Thus, the concepts in didactics and textbooks vary considerably and, as a consequence, it is difficult to speak of a universal gradation in the development of functional thinking.
