The chapter introduces the basic foreign research trends in the researched area, for example, the definition of the term "female entrepreneur," the issue of the so-called hidden giants in family businesses or the relationship of female entrepreneurs to money. It also highlights possible pitfalls of research, which are mainly related to the lack of a sufficient source base.
According to the author, a solution is to analyse the credit files of women entrepreneurs, whose information potential is still not appreciated by the research community. Based on a sample of more than 200 extant loan files of Prague female clients of the Živnostenská banka, the author answers the question of who were the businesswomen who entered into a client relationship with the Živnostenská banka.
It also notes the business strategies of both parties against the backdrop of the turbulent changes in the 1940s (especially the period 1945-1948).
