The study is based on a paper presented at a conference organized on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Karel Havlíček Borovský, held on October 26-27, 2021 in Havlíčkův Brod. In it, the author deals with the transformation of symbolic messages contained in profiling performances on the occasion of the round anniversaries of this important personality of modern Czech history.
In this context, the following authors were in particular: Karel Sladkovský (1862), Eduard Grégr (1870), T. G.
Masaryk (1896), Antonín Hajn (1935), Emanuel Vajtauer (1944), Karel Kosík (1958), Alexandr Stich (1975). , Jaroslav Hutka (1977), Podiven [Petr Pithart, Petr Příhoda, Milan Otáhal] (1991), Jiří Morawa (1991), Karel Kazbunda (2013) and others. In the future, the symbolic potential of Havlíček's interpretations will probably depend on the extent to which the Czech national society will adhere to its revivalist ideals in the fluid post-postmodern era.
