Abstract

Competitors are often guilty of greenwashing, exploiting consumer interest in greener products or services. My article aims to define greenwashing and the basic concepts involved, to focus on the ways in which competitors may engage in greenwashing, to address the possible classification of greenwashing as an unfair competitive practice and as an unfair commercial practice, and to examine the effects of greenwashing on consumers' economic behaviour, including the possible special impact on those affected by climate grief.
