Abstract
The study recapitulates the life work of the first head of the department of auxiliary historical sciences at the Faculty of Philosophy of Charles University, Prof. Zdeněk Fiala, DSc. In addition to the basic life data, it highlights the most important pedagogical, scientific and organizational achievements of Zdeněk Fiala.
