Abstract
Five chapters on the context and historical development of television not only as a technical communication tool, but also as a medium. The text introduces the efforts of the first pioneers in our country (e.g.
Jaroslav Šafránek) and the organizational and technological difficulties in building the first infrastructure for the start of trial broadcasting in Czechoslovakia. The study is published on the official website of Czech Television, as it was created with the support of the Project for Theoretical and Historical Analysis of Television Creation, which since 2017 has been systematically devoted to the history and professional reflection of television.
