The Leading Dutch Painter of the 17th Century Rembrandt van Rijn : A Textbook
The painter Rembrandt van Rijn was born in Amsterdam as the son of a picture dealer. He married Saskia van Uylenburgh and set out on the path of a sought-after painter. In the only painting in the collections of the Czech Republic, A Scholar in a Study Room, a man in an oriental costume and a turban appears. The expression on the scholar's face reflects the reflection on the fundamental questions of human existence, time and the meaning of man. The painter's work includes a number of portraits, including those of Comenius and a number of Jewish personalities, as well as types and characteristic faces of the Baroque era and genre scenes, which he elevated, such as in the painting Night Watch, to a general description of the structure of the human mind.
