Lymphatic transport of cannabidiol after intestinal absorption: An important pharmacokinetic parameter for its immunomodulatory effect

Publication

Abstract

High cannabidiol (CBD) lymphatic concentrations have been reported after oral administration to rats [1]. CBD lymphatic absorption is of greatpharmacological importance since several immunomodulatory effects have been described for this molecule and lymphatics are a major site ofleukocyte occurrence.

The aim of our study was to precisely describe CBD bioavailability via mesenteric lymphatic vessels and its overall contribution to total systemic bioavailability.
