Tomio Okamura is the leader and chairman of the SPD (Freedom and Direct Democracy) party, which belongs to the political right wing. The SPD party regularly wins seats in the Czech parliament, which testifies to its considerable influence in Czech society.
The programme and slogans of the SPD party are characterised by a sharp rejection of European Union policy, which allows its representatives to be classified as Eurosceptics. For example, one of the ideas promoted by the SPD is the so-called "Czexit", i.e. the withdrawal of the Czech Republic from the European Union (compare Brexit).
In the process of communication, Tomio Okamura uses interpretive and discrediting speech strategies, through which he seeks to explain events and present them in a certain light. The main expressive means used in his speech are metaphor, hyperbole and parcellation.
