Abstract
The chamber music series Music Without Borders 2023, organized by the Czech Roots Association in cooperation with the Dominican Monastery, continues in its fifteenth anniversary year. The autumn concert on 30 October is a tribute to Josef Vlach, an outstanding personality of Czech chamber music, and takes place in the Baroque refectory of the Dominican monastery in Prague's Jilská Street.
Jaroslav Šonský, the founder and artistic director of the Martinů Strings Prague ensemble, knew Josef Vlach, worked with him and his work remains a model for him to this day. Their last meeting took place in Sweden, where Jaroslav Šonský had lived for a long time and Josef Vlach was invited by him to work with the local symphony orchestra. However, he died suddenly there.
At the concert Jaroslav Šonský and his ensemble will commemorate him with a demanding but audience-friendly programme with works by Franz Schubert, J. S. Bach and also Leoš Janáček. The programme will be complemented by two works by Ástor Piazzolla arranged by ensemble member Jakub Janský.
