Abstract

A presence of hydrocarbon molecules in interstellar clouds makes laboratory research of astrophysically relevant ion-molecule reactions urgent. In this report, we discus experimental conditions required for the study of reactions of CHn ions with atomic and molecular hydrogen using RF ion trap technique.

We analyzed formation of these ions and their reactions in ion trap. We made numerical prediction of transformation CH ions into CH3 in reactions with H and H2.
