Requirements of small and medium enterprises (SME) on their information systems differ from the requirements of large enterprises. SOA as described in many popular books and standards is designed to support large enterprises that have enough resources to support such products.
We show that one SOA variant - software confederations - can support needs of SME inclusive agile business processes and integration of legacy systems. This SOA vesrion is described here in detail.
The application of software confederations outside SME is also mentioned.
