Abstract
The paper surveys experimental results connected with charging of dust grains under well-defined laboratory conditions for both space and industrial applications. Among several charging processes, the secondary emission is discussed in broad details because this process plays a prominent role everywhen a portion of energetic electrons is present in the medium surrounding a particular grain
