Information structure from the point of view of the relation of function and form

Abstract

One of the main tenets of the Prague School of Linguistics was a clear distinction to be made between form and function. The paper first refers to the classical statements about this distinction and then discusses this opposition from the viewpoint of topic-focus articulation of the sentence.
