This paper provides an analysis of Czech verbs of communication. It describes their three semantic participants 'Speaker', 'Recipient' and 'Message'.
Especially, dependent content clauses realizing the participant 'Message' are discussed in great detail. Three types of them are distinguished: assertive, interrogative and directive.
A further subdivision of the class of verbs of communication is proposed in accordance with types of dependent content clauses which the verbs of communicatioon bind to themselves.
