Abstract

Magnetic multilayers with individual layer thicklness in the nanometer range, and nanostructures in general, represent a new type of material with properties controlled by interfaces and patterning. They find applications in information technology, magneto-optic memories and magnetophotononic crystals.

In their characterization, the techniques based on the response to incident electromagnetic waves play an important role.
