The study deals with the image of the Soviet society in the Essay of Travels ?Herr Polevoi und sein Gast? of Wolfgang Koeppen. It should expound the cultural and social situation in the Soviet Union in the 1950s.
It also depicts the artistic means which Koeppen uses to describe the Soviet reality.
