Abstract
A survey of the history of the La Tene Celtic period in Central Europe in context of European history from 7th century B.C. to 1st century A.D. (Greek Archaic, Classical and Hellenistic periods, the beginnings of the Roman Empire), of their activities in theMediterranean (invasions, mercenariat), the impact of Mediterranean civilisations in Central Europe until the Roman conquest of the Central Europe south of the Danube.
