The article discusses Czech piano music in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, in particular works by Josef Suk (1874?1935) and Vítězslav Novák (1870?1949). It concentrates on Suk?s cycle ?O matince? ['About Mother?], op. 28 from 1907 and Novák? ?Mládí? ['Youth?], op. 55 from 1921.
