Abstract

The catholic town council of Eger was afraid of the invasion of Saxons and the return of the exiles, while the Lutheran citizens welcomed the Saxon soldiers.Their enthusiasm did not last long time, as the soldiers did not take anyone to account. The citizens refused to defend the city as they were wanted by the Saxon commander and surrendered to General Holk.
