Abstract

The study deals with the professionalization of midwifery at Prague university at the turn of 18th and 19th centuries. The essential question concerts with the bilingual charactere of the land and of the university, because midwifery represents the only domain that has to be taught not only in latin /eventually in German/, but also - as a first university course - in Czech language.
